Dagestan's Kizlyar district police chief detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting terrorism - source

MAKHACHKALA. Nov 23 (Interfax) - The Dagestani investigative authorities have detained the Kizlyar police chief, an informed source told Interfax on Sunday.

"Head of the Russian Interior Ministry's Kizlyar district police department Gazi Isayev has been detained. According to the preliminary information, he is suspected of aiding and abetting terrorism," the source said.

The suspect may be transported to Moscow, he said.

"The detention was performed by visiting investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee," the source said.

The source added that the district police chief was also suspected of organizing a murder.

"The suspect's house and office were searched before the detention. Various documents were seized," the source said.

Interfax has not received official comments from the law enforcement authorities.
