MOSCOW. Nov 23 (Interfax) - French inspectors will perform an observation flight in Russia on November 23-27 consistent with the Open Skies Treaty; the observation flight of an An-30N aircraft will begin at the Kubinka airfield, the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda said.
"According to head of Russia's National Nuclear Threat Reduction Center Sergei Ryzhkov, a French mission will perform an observation flight over the Russian territory onboard an An-30N French observation plane from the Kubinka airfield on November 23-27, 2020, consistent with the Open Skies Treaty," the newspaper said.
Russian specialists will be staying onboard during the flight along the approved route in order to control the strict compliance with the flight plan and the use of observation equipment allowed by the treaty.
The An-30N observation aircraft is not designed to carry any weapons. The plane and the observation equipment (cameras) have passed the international certification involving Russian specialists, which rules out the use of technical equipment unauthorized by the Open Skies Treaty.
