Three new cases of attempted railroad traffic blocking reported from Belarus

MINSK. Nov 23 (Interfax) - More attempts to block railroad traffic by means of track circuits were reported from Belarus last weekend.

"Three cases of false railroad track occupancy caused by track circuits were registered last weekend in the Borisov, Krupsky, and Dzerzhinsky districts [of the Minsk region]. The investigative authorities opened criminal cases," Belarusian Interior Ministry spokesperson Olga Chemodanova said on Telegram on Monday.

An inquiry has been launched in the Minsk region into car tires set on fire on the curb of the Minsk-Vitebsk highway and near an underground pedestrian crossing, she said.

The Belarusian Interior Ministry said on November 18 that attempts to damage the railroad track had intensified in the republic.

The vast majority of such violations have been committed in the Minsk region, the ministry said.
