Politicization must be avoided in applying int'l sanctions to Libya's Kaniyat militia - Russian deputy FM

MOSCOW. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Moscow believes it is necessary to look without any politicization into whether international sanctions are being used appropriately against Libya's Kaniyat militia and its leader, who are considered by Washington to be responsible for the mass murder of civilians in their country, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on Friday.

"All nuances of this case must be looked into and worked out in order to avoid politicization under the pretense of fighting some radical extremist elements," Bogdanov told Interfax, commenting on reports from Western media outlets on Russia recently blocking the use of United Nations Security Council sanctions against the Kaniyat militia.

"Our Western partners have a taste for working like that, so the details must be clarified in this case," he said.
