CSTO defense ministers to meet on Dec 1 via videolink

MINSK. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Military cooperation and challenges in the sphere of security will be discussed during the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on Tuesday, December 1, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

The meeting will be held via videoconference, the statement said.

"The meeting will address a number of issues in the military, military-technical and military-scientific sphere. The sides will also exchange opinions about the challenges and threats to military security in the collective security regions. Decisions made in the meeting will be aimed at developing common approaches and mechanisms to develop the military component of the CSTO," the Belarusian Defense Ministry said.

The meeting will be attended by the defense ministers of the CSTO countries, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas and CSTO Joint Staff head Anatoly Sidorov. The Belarusian delegation will be represented by Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, the report said.

The CSTO comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
