YEREVAN. Nov 30 (Interfax) - The bodies of more than 600 servicemen killed in the fighting with the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have been taken out of Nagorno-Karabakh with Russian peacekeepers' assistance, President of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Arayik Harutyunyan said on Monday.
"Today, I have met with relatives of missing persons and prisoners of war. Commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent Rustam Muradov and director of the emergency situations committee of Karabakh Karen Sarkisyan took part in the meeting. I informed that, thanks to close cooperation with the Russian peacekeepers, the Red Cross, and the emergency situations committee, more than 600 bodies have been removed from the conflict zone over this period. This work is continuing on a day-to-day basis," Harutyunyan wrote on his Facebook page.
All possible steps are being taken to find out what happened to the people who went missing, he said.
