VLADIVOSTOK. Dec 1 (Interfax) - The crews of MiG-31BM interceptor fighters from the naval air force of the Russian Pacific Fleet have embarked on a mission to protect the airspace over the Anadyr airfield as part of measures to reinforce the aviation group in the Arctic zone, the fleet's press service said on Tuesday.
"The air force unit is currently arranging coordination with the ground-based air defense system in order to fulfill their set tasks," the press service said.
Meanwhile, work has already been completed at the airfield to provide accommodation, recreation, and catering amenities for the aircraft crews during their round-the-clock air defense mission.
