MOSCOW. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Russian peacekeepers monitored the Lachin district's handover to Azerbaijan, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
"On December 1, consistent with the trilateral statement of the president of the Russian Federation, the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the prime minister of the Republic of Armenia, the Lachin district was handed over to the Azerbaijani side under control of the Russian peacekeeping contingent," Konashenkov said.
"The Russian peacekeepers are controlling the Lachin corridor with a width of five kilometers. It connects Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia and provides the safe return of people to places of their residence and civilian motor traffic," he said.
