MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - Russia and Turkey have different approaches toward the situation in Libya, but the influence of the two countries on the conflicting parties helps achieve positive results, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"As concerns Libya, indeed, we have different approaches from Turkey. Turkey prefers to highlight its relations with the Tripoli administration," Lavrov said at the Rome 2020 Mediterranean Dialogues (MED) international conference held in a videoconference format on Friday.
The general situation shows that the involvement of Russia, Turkey, and other parties in the settlement efforts is aimed at putting an end to the hostilities, he said.
Lavrov cited the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement process as an example. At the start of that conflict, Russia disagreed with Turkey's "statement that that conflict could have a military solution," he said.
"But now, owing to the efforts undertaken by President [Vladimir] Putin and his Azerbaijani and Armenian counterparts, an agreement has been reached," Lavrov said.
