MOSCOW. Dec 8 (Interfax) - Russian peacekeeping troops defused and destroyed almost 3,000 explosive devices on the southern outskirts of Nagorno-Karabakh's capital Stepanakert, clearing more than a hectare of land and one kilometer of roads, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"More than one hectare of land and one kilometer of roads were cleared of mines in the past 24 hours. In all, 2,876 explosive devices were found and disposed of," the ministry said.
"To date, engineer units have demined more than 62 hectares of land and over 21 kilometers of roads in Nagorno-Karabakh, finding and defusing over 4,000 explosive devices," it said.
In the past day, specialists restored four transmission line towers, 1,600 meters of power lines, one kilometer of the gas main, 2,200 meters of communication lines, and two electrical substations.
