YEREVAN. Dec 8 (Interfax) - Armenian President Armen Sarkissian has sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin requesting that Russia provide assistance in the demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border.
"The Armenian president pointed out in his letter that a potential threat of new disputes between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides remains in light of the demarcation of the borders," Sarkissian's press service said.
Given the importance of the issue, the Armenian president requested that Putin assist in the process of the demarcation of the borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan "to rule out further tensions and negative developments," the press service said.
The Armenian president thanked the Russian leader again for the efforts which made the cessation of the bloodshed in Nagorno-Karabakh and the establishment of the ceasefire possible, it said.
