MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - Russia's Land Forces plan to conduct nine joint training exercises with foreign military contingents next year, including joint maneuvers with Algeria, Russian Land Forces Commander Oleg Salyukov said.
"Nine such events at different levels are expected to take place as part of joint exercises with the armies of foreign states," Salyukov said in an interview published in the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper on Wednesday.
They include the Unbreakable Brotherhood 2021 and Rubezh 2021 exercises with Armed Forces units of the Collective Security Treaty Organization member states, the Peace Mission 2021 maneuvers involving the foreign member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Friendship 2021, Indra 2021, Laros 2021, and Selenga 2021 bilateral maneuvers, as well as Russia's joint exercises with Algeria and Sri Lanka, he said.
"The exercises will be hosted both by Russia (seven) and other countries (two)," he said.
When commenting on the results of this year, Salyukov said that "despite the complicated epidemiological situation and the implementation of measures to counter the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the Land Forces have accomplished their tasks in full."
"On the whole, the level of field training of the forces' personnel has increased more than 15% this year," Salyukov said.
"The intensity of [combat training] measures was maintained at the level of 2019, but their quality grew considerably," he said.
"Specifically, this year has seen more than 1,500 tactical maneuvers involving divisional and artillery batteries, more than 60% of which received 'good' and 'excellent' marks," the commander said.
