Young man plotting armed attack on school detained in Tula - Russian FSB

MOSCOW. Dec 9 (Interfax) - A young man suspected of plotting to attack a local school using a hunting rifle has been detained in Tula, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said.

"In the city of Tula, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation detained a local resident, born in 2002, who was making preparations for an armed attack on an educational establishment. A sawed-off hunting rifle and communications equipment containing materials about similar crimes were seized from him," the FSB press center said.

Based on the results of an examination of the seized weapon, the investigative department of the Russian Interior Ministry's Tula branch opened a criminal case on a count of illegal acquisition and possession of weapons.

Additional procedural qualification of the suspect's actions is pending in connection with his school attack plot, the FSB press center said.
