MOSCOW. Dec 10 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin has taken part in the 7th ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting involving dialogue partners (ADMM Plus), the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
"At the end of the meeting, the heads of delegation adopted a joint statement of the ADMM Plus defense ministers aimed at further strengthening of multilateral military cooperation," the statement said.
Fomin "congratulated meeting participants on the 10th jubilee of the ADMM Plus format and relayed Russia's approach to the provision of security in the Asia Pacific region," it said.
The meeting was virtual.
ADMM Plus is a mechanism of interaction between defense ministries of ten Southeast Asian nations (ASEAN) and their dialogue partners (Australia, India, China, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia, the United States, and Japan) established in April 2010 at Vietnam's initiative.
ADMM Plus aims to promote an open and constructive discussion of defense and security issues, to build confidence and mutual understanding in the region, and to facilitate practical interaction between the militaries of the participatory states.
There are seven expert working groups in ADMM Plus dedicated to humanitarian demining, humanitarian aid and emergency response, military medicine, marine security, suppression of terrorism, peacekeeping operations, and cybersecurity.
