Unrecognized NKR army lost 1,779 men in conflict with Azerbaijan - Defense Ministry

YEREVAN. Dec 10 (Interfax) - The Defense Ministry of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh (NKR) confirmed on Thursday the deaths of another 33 servicemen in the fighting with the Azerbaijani forces in the Karabakh conflict zone between September 27 and November 9.

According to the updated report of the ministry, a total of 1,779 servicemen of the NKR Defense Army were killed in action in that period.

The Armenian Health Ministry said on December 2 that 2,718 servicemen killed in the Karabakh war had undergone post-mortem examination. The ministry added that some servicemen had not been added to the fatality list of the Defense Ministry.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched the military operation in the Karabakh conflict zone on September 27. Late at night on November 9, the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia signed a trilateral statement to declare a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh, the deployment of Russian peacekeepers, and the handover of several districts to Azerbaijan.
