Military reports 40% surge in foreign intelligence near Russian border

MOSCOW. Dec 14 (Interfax) - The military has detected over 1,000 foreign intelligence planes flying in the vicinity of the Russian border in 2020, a representative of the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

"Over 1,000 flights of foreign intelligence aircraft were detected near the Russian border, which was approximately 40% more than in 2020," Commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces' Radio-Technical Forces Maj. Gen. Andrei Koban said.

In all, duty details of the Radio-Technical Forces detected and monitored over 2 million airborne objects in 2020, Koban said in an article published by the Russian Defense Ministry's Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.
