MOSCOW. Dec 14 (Interfax) - Former deputy director of the Russian National Guard Sergei Mileiko has been charged with massive fraud, an informed source told Interfax on Monday.
"General Sergei Mileiko faces charges under Clause 3 of Article 33 and Clause 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation [mastermind of massive fraud]," the source said.
Another source told Interfax that these actions date back to 2017-2019 and involved the purchasing of uniforms from a supplier at inflated prices.
The case files include a full confession given by the director of the aforementioned company, the source said.
Military investigators opened a criminal case at the end of October this year. Mileiko was detained, but was released in early November after pledging to come to investigators when summoned.
Russian National Guard spokesman Valery Gribakin told Interfax earlier that the materials that drew interest from investigators had been collected by the agency's internal security service. Gribakin said that the contract with Mileiko, who oversaw logistics support in the Russian National Guard, was terminated ahead of time in 2019 at the initiative of the agency's administration.
