Azerbaijan, Armenia begin exchanging prisoners, hostages - state commission (Part 2)

BAKU. Dec 14 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan and Armenia began exchanging prisoners of war and hostages under the "all-for-all" principle on Monday, Azerbaijan's State Commission on Prisoners Of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons said.

"As a result of talks involving international organizations and the Russian peacekeeping command, an agreement was reached with Armenia on an exchange of POWs and hostages under the 'all-for-all' principle, and this process began on December 14," the commission said.

Prisoners of war and hostages, including Shakhbaz Guliev and Dilgam Askerov, who have been held by Armenia since July 2014, were delivered to Azerbaijan on December 14, the commission said. After quarantine measures, all of them will be reunited with their families.

"The Azerbaijani side will continue honoring its obligation to exchange POWs, hostages, and bodies, guided by humane principles," the commission said.
