Lavrov dismisses reports on multiple attempts to poison Navalny as flippant (Part 2)

ZAGREB. Dec 16 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has described the reports on multiple attempts to poison Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny as flippant.

"We've gotten accustomed to the fact that the United States, as well as other Western countries, simply announce in the media about new accusations leveled at Russia, be it something concerning hackers or some sensation concerning the double or even triple poisoning of Navalny. It turns out that the first time his wife was poisoned," Lavrov said at a press conference in Zagreb on Wednesday.

"It's amusing to read all these news stories, but the manner in which they've been presented says one thing: our Western partners lack any ethical norms and any skills of normal diplomatic work, and they are unwilling to abide by international law norms when it comes to establishing facts," Lavrov said.

"And the logic here is this: we, for example, have presented new facts about the poisoning of Navalny that were uncovered by German special services, but Moscow has been silent for two days. If it keeps silent, then it's culpable indeed. In my view, it's obvious to any sensible person how flawed this approach is," Lavrov said.
