Russia to take countermeasures in response to extension of EU sanctions - MP Slutsky

MOSCOW. Dec 16 (Interfax) - Russia will have to impose countersanctions in response to the European Union's extension of its economic sanctions against Russia, Chairman of the State Duma's Foreign Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky told reporters on Wednesday.

"We can only regret it and will have to take countermeasures in response," Slutsky said.

"No results come from sanctions pressure on Russia, and it cannot make [Russia] change either its foreign policy or its existing borders, a fact that is recognized by a large number of politicians in European countries," he said.
