Baku denies reports about creation of Turkish military bases in Azerbaijan

BAKU. Jan 11 (Interfax) - The Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan has denied foreign media claims about plans to host Turkish air bases in three cities.

"This information is untrue," the ministry's spokesperson Vagif Dargahli told Interfax on Friday.

Azerbaijan does not pursue the policy of hosting foreign military bases, except where this is envisaged by international agreements, he said.

Azerbaijan is a member and current chairman (2019-2022) of the Non-Aligned Movement, the spokesman said.

Several foreign media outlets had reported about the creation of Turkish air bases in three Azerbaijani cities.
