MOSCOW. Jan 11 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed the upcoming trilateral meeting of the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan on Nagorno-Karabakh in Moscow on January 11 with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron by telephone, the Russian presidential press service said.

"As part of coordination of the actions of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Vladimir Putin has had a telephone call with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, to discuss several issues dealing with the upcoming trilateral meeting of the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan on Nagorno-Karabakh in Moscow on January 11," the press service said on Sunday.

It was noted in light of the gradual implementation of the Joint Statement of November 9, 2020 and stabilization of the situation surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh that further actions to facilitate peaceful life in the region are to be discussed at this meeting in the first place," it said.

"The president of France expressed support to Russia's effort to facilitate the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement. The importance of urgent humanitarian assistance to the population affected by the hostilities, including via relevant international organizations, was emphasized," it said.

Putin and Macron also offered each other holiday greeting on Christmas and New Year during the call, the Kremlin said.

"The parties agreed to continue contacts at the various levels," the Kremlin press service said.
