MOSCOW. Jan 11 (Interfax) - The Russian military base in Tajikistan was reinforced with about 20 pieces of new and modernized hardware last year, the Central Military District press service said in a statement.
"In accordance with the procurement plan, the formation received Mil Mi-8-MTV5-1 combat transport helicopters, modernized BMP-2M infantry combat vehicles, a Tigr special-purpose vehicle, a brand-new Linza armored medical vehicle, MTO-UB1 maintenance workshops mounted on the Ural off-road truck chassis, and rear hardware," the statement said.
As Interfax reported earlier, the Russian military reinforced the 201st base in Tajikistan with long-range air defense systems in 2019. A battalion of S-300PS air defense missile systems built by Almaz-Antey was put on combat duty.
