Prosecution service detected over 3.5 mln violations of federal law in 2020 - Putin

MOSCOW. Jan 12 (Interfax) - Russia's prosecution service detected more than 3.5 million violations of federal law in 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an address to officers and veterans of the prosecution service on the occasion of their professional holiday.

"You always have a great deal of work to do. For instance, prosecutors detected over 3.5 million violations of federal law in 2020, filed more than 820,000 orders to eliminate them, and opened nearly 19,000 criminal cases on the basis of inspection materials," Putin said in the address aired on the Rossiya 24 television channel (VGTRK) on Tuesday.

"Each of these figures represents the restoration of truth and justice. I expect you to achieve consequential results this year, as well," he said.

Putin thanked prosecutors for their "due diligence and high professional qualities."
