Normandy Four discussions enter 5th hour, 'difficult' - source

KYIV. Jan 12 (Interfax) - Security issues are the main focus of Ukrainian Presidential Office chief Andriy Yermak at the meeting of political advisors to the Normandy Quartet leaders, a source close to the negotiation told Interfax on Tuesday.

"The discussions have gone on for five hours now, they are difficult, but security issues are the absolute priority for Yermak and the delegation," the source said.

"The delegation is working entirely within the approved red lines," he said, noting that this position was met with understanding and support from Germany and France.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Russian Embassy to Germany told reporters that another round of Normandy-format talks in Berlin had begun.

The political advisors are meeting at the office of the federal chancellor. Russia is represented by the presidential administration's deputy chief Dmitry Kozak.

The embassy had said that the meeting would focus on the implementation of the 2019 Paris summit results regarding a political settlement of the conflict. The four negotiators are Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine.
