Russian Defense Ministry receives batch of T-80BVM tanks

MOSCOW. Jan 13 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry has received a batch of T-80BVM tanks, the press service of Rostec's Uralvagonzavod Corporation said in a statement on Wednesday.

"The tanks successfully passed thorough testing before being supplied to the Russian army," the statement said.

The tanks built by the Omsk Transport Engineering Plant were shipped in December, it said.

"All obligations to the Defense Ministry were fulfilled in due time... We have now started to fulfill the 2021 government defense orders," the statement quoted Omsk Transport Engineering Plant General Director Igor Lobov as saying.

T-80BVM is an improved version of the T-80BV tank. The tank's upgraded multichannel aiming sight no longer uses imported component parts.

The tank has been supplied to the Russian Armed Forces since 2019.
