MOSCOW. Jan 13 (Interfax) - Russian Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed the problems of Syrian settlement with United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen in a phone call on Wednesday.
"During the phone conversation, the situation in and around Syria was substantively discussed with an emphasis on the need to promote a comprehensive settlement of the Syrian crisis based on UN Security Council Resolution 2254," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"The parties also touched upon a set of issues related to the preparations for an upcoming meeting of the Constitutional Committee in Geneva and the next International Meeting on Syria in the Astana format," the statement said.
