Combined arms army in western Russia gets batch of satnav radios

MOSCOW. Jan 14 (Interfax) - The Western Military District's 20th Combined Arms Army has received a batch of new radio stations, which brings the proportion of its modern and advanced communication systems to 80%, the district's press service said on Thursday.

"The newly arrived equipment enables the automation of data processing, transmission, display and storage processes, the formation of radio channels when moving, stopped or parked, and a manifold increase of the army's troop control efficiency," the press service said.

Thus, the army units in the Voronezh and Kursk regions received more than 10 R-419L1, R-416GM, R-149AKSh-1, R-166 and P-260-O stations.

"The R-419L1, R-416GM digital relay stations are fitted with the Glonass satellite navigation system for the rapid deployment of standalone radio-relay communications," the statement said.

The delivery also included command-post vehicles for organizing a command and control system in an active countermeasures environment. The army's missile brigade received R-166 Artek automobile radio stations and the R-260-O combined apparatus for setting up communications for commanding staff.
