YEKATERINBURG. Jan 18 (Interfax) - More than 1,500 tank crewmembers are taking part in the first exercise of 2021, involving combat firing, in the Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions, the press service for the Central Military District said on Monday.
"The crews of combat vehicles are drilling firing at emerging and moving targets simulating tanks, low-flying helicopters and the positions of enemy grenade launchers, at distances between 900 and 2,200 meters," the press service said in a statement.
The exercise, which will last until the end of this week, involves troops from the largest tank unit of the Central Military District, the guard tank division stationed in the Southern and Middle Urals, it said.
"Due to low temperatures, warming posts have been deployed on the firing range, where servicemen are given hot tea, sandwiches with sausages and bacon, and also onions and garlic. All servicemen are provided with winter tank suits and warm footwear during the combat training," it said.
