Baltic Fleet ship practices firing upon aerial targets

MOSCOW. Jan 19 (Interfax) - The crew of the Yaroslav Mudry patrol vessel has practiced the firing of the Kortik missile and artillery system upon a simulated enemy's planes and helicopters, the Baltic Fleet reported on Tuesday.

"The crew practiced the firing of missiles with the Kortik shipborne missile and artillery system, during which a simulated enemy's aircraft was destroyed," it said.

The vessel's radar identification systems tracked two cluster aerial targets. Sukhoi Su-24M frontline bombers and Kamov Ka-27 anti-submarine helicopters of the Baltic Fleet's naval air force acted as the simulated enemy's high-speed and low-flying targets, it said.

"The firing was conducted upon the simulated aerial targets," it said.

The exercise to practice the repelling of a simulated enemy's airstrike was conducted in the Baltic Sea.
