LUHANSK. Jan 19 (Interfax) - Former European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus Herbert Salbert of Germany has been introduced to the economic subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), which mediates the conflict in Donbas, as the subgroup's new coordinator, the Foreign Ministry of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic said.
"The meeting of the Minsk Contact Group's subgroup for economy and reconstruction has concluded," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement after the meeting.
Tuesday's talks, held via video link, focused on water supplies to the self-proclaimed republics and Kyiv paying the salaries owed to dismissed rail workers.
Salbert, who served as EU special representative for the South Caucasus between 2014 and 2017, will assume his new role at the next meeting of the subgroup.
His predecessor was another German diplomat and a former ambassador to Russia (2010-2014), Ulrich Brandenburg.
