MINSK. Jan 22 (Interfax) - Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov have discussed the development of the domestic political situation in Belarus and current aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in a telephone call, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
"Vladimir Makei informed his counterpart about how the domestic political situation is developing, as well as informing him of upcoming major political events in Belarus. The parties discussed current aspects of bilateral cooperation in the political and trade-economic fields and interaction within the framework of the Union State and integration entities," the Foreign Ministry said.
Special significance was attached to international security and arms control, the ministry said.
"Sergei Lavrov has extensively informed [Makei] of Russia's approaches toward some particular sectors in said field. The parties agreed to continue close coordination and interaction on these matters," it said.
