Prosecutors warn 5 Internet companies, 6 individuals of unacceptability of calls for holding unsanctioned rally in Moscow on Jan 31 (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Jan 28 (Interfax) - Prosecutors have issued warnings to six individuals and five Internet companies in connection with an unsanctioned demonstration planned in the center of Moscow on January 31, Moscow prosecution service spokesperson Lyudmila Nefedova told Interfax.

"For the purpose of the prevention of possible violations of law, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office has issued warnings to the heads of five Russian and foreign Internet companies," Nefedova said.

"Besides, six individuals calling for joining an unsanctioned public event on Moscow's Lubyanskaya and Staraya Squares on January 31, 2021, have been warned about the unacceptability of unlawful actions," she said.

Prosecutors have detected online calls for participation in public events organized in violation of the law in Russia on January 31, 2021.

"The dissemination, as well as the provision of technical capacities for the dissemination of information involving calls for the participation of citizens, including minors, in unsanctioned public events and mass unrest, pose the threat of a breach of public peace and public security," Nefedova said.

"Please be advised that both the organization of and participation in an unsanctioned public event entail liability in accordance with the Russian legislation," she said.
