MOSCOW. Feb 2 (Interfax) - Reports that people detained at protests are being ill-treated in police vans must be verified, and all necessary measures should be taken if these reports are confirmed, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"We have seen media reports to this effect. We have no doubt that our colleagues in the Interior Ministry have also seen these reports. Therefore, again, one simply needs to verify these concrete facts and, if they turn out to be true, take measures," Peskov told reporters when asked whether the Kremlin is aware of claims on social media platforms that detained persons have complained of being held in police vans for 40 hours without any food and have demanded that this ill-treatment be stopped.
