MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - The crews of the Pavel Derzhavin patrol ship and the Orekhovo-Zuyevo corvette have practiced destroying a mock enemy's group of ships, the press service for the Black Sea Fleet said in a statement.
"Consistent with the exercise scenario, Black Sea Fleet ships detected a mock enemy's group of ships en route to a protected marine area. The commanders were ordered to approach the mock enemy and force it to change course," the press service said.
In the course of their approach, the Black Sea Fleet ships were attacked by the mock enemy, which fired missiles.
"The crew of the Pavel Derzhavin patrol ship deterred the missile attack using an air defense system. After that, the corvette's combat crew locked onto the targets and 'destroyed' the mock enemy's group of ships using a Kalibr-NK precision-guided missile complex," the press service said.
The missiles were not actually fired; their launches were simulated on a computer.
Kalibr is a family of Russian long-range cruise missiles developed by the Novator Design Bureau of the Almaz-Antey company.
