Putin orders giving science council access to secret developments

MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered changing the principles governing the formation of the science and education council and including in it government and Security Council officials who have access to secret developments.

"I suggest considerably changing the work format and the principles governing the formation of the science and education council and including in it government and Security Council officials. I mean that work on some tracks is labelled 'secret' and 'top secret', and sometimes it is labelled as especially important," Putin said at a meeting of the education and science council on Monday.

"Therefore, we need to create such a team here that will have access to any work and will thus considerably strengthen the mechanism for making strategic decisions in the sphere of technological development," the president said.
