Western reps' online meeting with Russian opposition is manifestation of 'illegal offensive on Russia' - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - The online conference with participation of the Russian opposition, organized by the Polish Permanent Representation to the European Union, is an aggressive and unlawful offensive on Russia, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

"In Brussels, Poland's permanent representation to the EU held an online meeting with representatives from the so-called Russian opposition," Zakharova said on the 60 Minutes program on Rossiya 1 television on Monday.

The meeting was attended by a member of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (declared a foreign agent in Russia), Vladimir Ashurkov, she said. "This is the same man who appears on footage with British secret services. He was discussing funding for a number of projects, one of which was aimed at discrediting Russia's banking system," Zakharova said.

"So this is what our Western, so-called 'partners' have been up to... Continuing the absolutely illegal, unlawful, aggressive offensive against us. In fact, this is a series of their self-exposures. Everything is plain to see," Zakharova said.
