Three of 6 teenagers suspected of setting up terrorist group in Dagestan arrested

MAKHACHKALA. Feb 10 (Interfax) - The Sovetsky District Court of Makhachkala has ruled to arrest three out of six suspects in setting up a terrorist group, the Dagestani Supreme Court told Interfax on Tuesday.

"The court ruled to hand down a measure of restraint in the form of a custodial term for one month and 29 days until April 3, 2021 inclusive to three persons suspected of committing crimes under Part 1 Article 205.4 and Part 2 Article 205.5 of the Russian Criminal Code," the court said.

The measure of restraint was handed down to three who are over 17, while the other three are under 16, it said.

As previously reported, the investigative authorities in Dagestan opened a criminal case against six teenagers for setting up a terrorist group.

According to the investigation, six minors in Makhachkala, supporting the ideas of the Islamic State organization, which is banned in Russia, united into a stable terrorist group. Thus, they wanted to commit terrorist crimes.

The suspects are charged with setting up and leading a terrorist group and with participation in a terrorist community.
