Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service ready to continue interaction with CIA if Burns confirmed as director - Naryshkin

MOSCOW. Feb 12 (Interfax) - William Burns, the nominee for director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), is a man with a worthy biography, and Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service will interact with the CIA wherever possible, Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergei Naryshkin said.

"He's a man with rather profound knowledge and experience in the field of international relations and international politics, and he has a worthy professional biography. There are no odious moments in his biography, by the way, in contrast to that of his predecessor [Gina Haspel]," Naryshkin told journalists on Friday.

"So, we'll interact with the Central Intelligence Agency wherever that's possible. Practically, our interaction has never stopped. We exchange various kinds of information in regard to the fight against international terrorism," he said.

U.S. President Joe Biden nominated Burns for the post of CIA director in early February. The Senate will consider his candidacy.
