Northern Fleet practices destruction of terrorist camp in Arctic

MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - Servicemen from reconnaissance units of a marine brigade have practiced the countering of illegal armed units in the sub-Arctic and Arctic areas during an exercise held in the Pechenga district of the Murmansk region, the Northern Fleet Staff said in a statement.

"The marines mounted on snowmobiles attacked the camp of mock terrorists. The practice involved reconnaissance units of a marine brigade with their service-issue weapons, camouflage gear, and other hardware," the statement said.

The exercise featured "an attack on an armed group of the mock enemy, the capture of a prisoner, direction of attack aircraft and artillery at the camp, and clearing of the camp," the staff said.

According to the staff, the marines mounted the attack using A-1 snowmobiles, which were supplied to the marine brigade several years ago.
