Weak signal from Kurs system prevented Progress MS-16 from automatically docking with ISS

MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - A weak signal from the Kurs approach system prevented the Progress MS-16 resupply ship from automatically docking with the International Space Station (ISS) earlier on Wednesday.

"Control switched over to the TORU system for manual flying of the ISS Progress 77 resupply ship due to signal strength from the Kurs automated system," the ISS team said on Twitter.

"Station commander Sergei Ryzhikov is in control of the Progress 77 from a control panel inside Zvezda," the team said.

The Progress MS-16 resupply ship failed to dock with the ISS automatically on Wednesday morning, and the ISS crew had to docking manually.

The ship docked with the Pirs module of the Russian segment of the ISS at 9:27 a.m. Moscow Time.

The Roscosmos press service told Interfax that the Progress MS-16 shifted to manual operation to dock with the ISS due to deviation from the docking axis.
