YEKATERINBURG. Feb 18 (Interfax) - A comprehensive exercise involving about 1,000 troops of the Central Military District has begun at training ranges in the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions, the district press service said on Thursday.
In line with the exercise scenario, reconnaissance units detected positions of the mock enemy's troops and hardware using Strelets systems and unmanned aerial vehicles.
"Msta self-propelled artillery systems, Grad and Uragan rocket launchers, and Mil Mi-24 helicopters delivered artillery and air strikes on the uncovered positions," the press service said.
Strela-10M, Tunguska and Igla air defense missile systems countered the mock enemy's aviation impersonated by Mil Mi-8 helicopters and protected the troops.
Zhitel, Borisoglebsk and Silok ECM systems from the Central Military District ECM brigade stationed in the Sverdlovsk region suppressed the mock enemy's reconnaissance and navigation systems.
The exercise will end on February 20.
