Roscosmos to spend over 2.5 bln rubles over 3 years on running Earth observation satellites

MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - The state corporation Roscosmos set aside more than 2.5 billion rubles for the running of a group of Earth remote sensing satellites in 2021-2023, the state procurement website said.

The permanently active group consists of Kanopus-V-IK, Kanopus-V No. 3, Kanopus-V No. 4, Kanopus-V No. 5, Kanopus-V No. 6, Elektro-L No. 2, Elektro-L No. 3, Resurs-P No.1 and Resurs-P No. 3.

The funding will be distributed as follows: 20 million rubles in 2021; 1.29 billion rubles in 2022; and 1.27 billion rubles in 2023.

Kanopus-V provides panchromatic and spectral imaging of the earth surface for Roscosmos' divisions, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Natural Resources, Russian Academy of Sciences, and other government agencies and commercial consumers of real-time data. The satellite can be used for cartography, monitoring of disasters, including wildfires, and real time observation.

Elektro-L provides the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Rosgidromet) with real-time data for weather analysis and forecast, studying the waters of seas and oceans, monitoring flight conditions, and for studying the ionosphere and magnetic field of the Earth.

Resurs-P provides map updates and ensures day-to-day operation of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Federal Agency for Fishery, Rosgidromet and other consumers, and provides data on environmental monitoring and protection.
