Armenia beginning Armed Forces reform in cooperation with Russia - PM Pashinyan

YEREVAN. Feb 25 (Interfax) - Armenia is beginning to elaborate a concept of the Armed Forces reform in cooperation with Russia, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.

"Later today, I will sign an order on the establishment of a working group, led by the defense minister, which will elaborate a concept of the Armed Forces reform, the relevant roadmap, and the schedule of activities," Pashinyan said at a government meeting on Thursday.

He said that Armenia would be closely cooperating with Russia, "No.1 security partner," in that process.

"I have no doubt that cooperation in the field of security, military cooperation, and military-technical cooperation will become more effective as a result of this process," Pashinyan said.

Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin said on February 23 that Russia was assisting in the modernization of the Armenian Armed Forces.
