Armenian PM Pashinyan urges chief of Armed Forces General Staff to step down

YEREVAN. Feb 25 (Interfax) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has urged Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff Onik Gasparyan to step down voluntarily.

"I talked to the president of Armenia this morning. If he doesn't sign my proposal on dismissing Gasparyan, does that mean he has joined the coup? Let Onik Gasparyan tender his resignation voluntarily and step down. No need to foment disturbances. I won't allow him to raise the army up against the people," Pashinyan said at a rally of his supporters whom he invited to gather on Republic Square on Thursday.
