YEREVAN. Feb 25 (Interfax) - The Armenian Prosecutor General's Office has denied rumors about upcoming detentions among the senior officers of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, who have demanded that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan resign.
"Information saying that the Prosecutor General's Office is preparing to sanction under an instruction from Nikol Pashinyan the storming of the Defense Ministry and the detainment of army generals is not true. The Prosecutor General's Office does not execute instructions, and this information is wrong," the Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement on Thursday.
Former Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Gen. Yuri Khachaturov said earlier at an opposition rally that preparations were underway to detain generals of the Armenian Armed Forces' General Staff.
