YEREVAN. March 1 (Interfax) - Early parliamentary elections in Armenia may be held in 2021 if the parliamentary opposition agrees to certain conditions, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.
"The Bright Armenia faction, in fact, has already agreed, making a proposal yesterday. It remains to clarify the position of the Prosperous Armenia faction. If the parliamentary opposition agrees, elections may be held this year," Pashinyan said on public television during a procession in central Yerevan following a rally of his supporters convened by him.
In order to dissolve the parliament, the Armenian prime minister must step down, and if the parliament fails to elect a new prime minister twice in a row, it will automatically be dissolved and new elections scheduled, after which a new majority will elect the prime minister.
