ULYANOVSK. March 2 (Interfax) - Five new heavy-lift military-transport planes will be delivered to the Russian Aerospace Forces this year, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"We received three such airplanes in 2020 and plan to receive another five in 2021. Subsequently, it is necessary to reach the level of ten planes per year," Shoigu said during a visit to Aviastar-SP in Ulyanovsk.
"This is quite a challenge. We'll hear today how it will be tackled," the minister said.
In the future, the annual output of new and modernized Ilyushin Il-76MD-90A aircraft should reach 20 in order to increase their fleet to more than 250 by 2030, he said.
