Baltic Fleet air force practices destroying simulated enemy's warships

MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - The Russian Baltic Fleet's air force practiced destroying a unit of a simulated enemy's warships.

"Sukhoi Su-30SM multirole fighters and Su-24 frontline bombers conducted aerial exercises to practice overpowering air defense systems of a simulated enemy's unit of warships and delivering a missile strike upon the ships," the Baltic Fleet said in a statement on Thursday.

To make it harder for the ships to repel the air strike, the planes approached the targets from various directions and carried out speed and altitude maneuvers, it said.

"Baltic Fleet ships, which are currently performing their naval duties, acted as a simulated enemy's warships," it said.

The maneuvers were planned and involved five planes and three surface ships, it said.
