Russia's Central Military District to host over 20 int'l events in 2021 - commander

YEKATERIBURG. March 9 (Interfax) - Russia's Central Military District will host 23 joint international events, including six international military exercises, this year, commander of the military district's forces Alexander Lapin said.

"In all, we will hold 23 joint events, including six international exercises, this year. The highlight of the forces' joint training program will be the Peace Mission 2021 anti-terrorism exercise," Lapin said.

The press service of the Central Military District added that these events will be conducted together with Central Asian countries.

Representatives of the Armed Forces of Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, and Pakistan have already held the first round of consultations and have discussed potential dates for the Peace Mission 2021 exercise, the essence of its scenario, and the compositions of its coordination headquarters and the joint command of the coalition group of forces.

The Peace Mission 2021 joint anti-terrorism command-and-staff exercise will take place at a training range in the Central Military District in the summer of this year.

The Central Military District covers three Russian federal districts and 29 constituent regions. It also includes several Russian bases abroad: the 201st base in Tajikistan, one in Kyrgyzstan, and units in Kazakhstan. The district is headquartered in Yekaterinburg.
